▫ personality
Often times Cameron can be seen looking out a window, just thinking about things. But that doesn't mean he doesn't like to converse with others. He respects others, and seems to be very well spoken. He is very polite, and generally does not wish to offend anyone (so, he doesn't usually tend to pry into situations unless the other person allows him to ask what he is curious about). He loves to solve riddles and puzzles, and can be mulling over one if he falls quiet (or is seen by himself).
He tends to want to socialize with others due to trying to get his mind off of the nightmares he always has. This is the reason he likes puzzles, riddles, and books so much. Once someone gets to know Cameron better, they can see he is a somewhat timid person who does not wish to argue with others. He's actually non-confrontational, and will pretty much cave in if someone is forward enough with their demands (or shouts at him loud enough). Sometimes, however, he can fall into a slight depression and will not talk often. Though, it doesn't usually take long for him to get out of this. This, and his nightmares, are probably the two most difficult things for him to discuss (in detail).
He doesn't get angry often, though he may show frustration when he cannot help someone (or at least help them cope) with a situation. He doesn't let this get to him (mostly), so he is usually back to his friendly self in no time. He does tend to get curious, so he may want to know more about something (within reason). For the most part, besides his crippling nightmares and slight depression, Cameron seems like a normal, nice man who tries to go out of his way to make others feel better.
There is a small chance one may see him deeply regretting his decisions in the past and blaming himself for what happened to his family and the supposed burden he has placed on his sister, Catherine. He generally does not show this, though, if depressed enough, he may go into a mental breakdown.
As far as his nightmares go, they're more a mish-mash of his thoughts, what he has read in his books, and some events from the past than anything vivid (i.e. word for word from an incident). The problem is that sometimes he doesn't know what is reality and what is his nightmare, so he may act out during the dream or after he wakes up (and before he recovers from his dream). In the past, he has never hurt anyone but himself. Though, since his nightmares and depression are coming back, who knows what he could do?
▫ history
Cameron James Oliverson was born to a happily married Jonah Oliverson and Fae Oliverson (formerly Lope). He is the fraternal twin brother of Catherine Oliverson, who is currently a well-paid lawyer.
He grew up in a fairly nice home with a happy family, and didn't have many problems. Even when he started school, he wasn't bullied much (due to his looks/frame) and made quite a few friends.
It wasn't until Middle School when he started to have problems. A child who had transferred to his school the same year started to bully him. Then others joined in. This created a very hostile environment for Cameron, who withdrew from the world and started to read more books.
It got so bad that one day, while trying to ignore the bullies, Cameron was severely beaten up by the bully who started it all. Catherine, who happened to walk nearby when this was happening, ran over to help Cameron. It took a few other kids to get Catherine to stop beating up the bully herself, and she was expelled from the school since the bully ended up in the hospital (Cameron also ended up in the hospital, but it did not seem like his situation was getting as much attention as the other kid's).
The family moved to another state after this incident, but things started to fall apart. When Cameron reached High School, he was completely withdrawn from the world, despite all the help his sister tried to get him. He developed a severe case of depression and suffered from crippling nightmares. This caused many bad situations for him, and caused even more tension in the household (and strain on his parents' wallets) Eventually, his parents divorced when Cameron was a Junior, and both parents abandoned the kids. They stayed with a friend of Catherine's until they finished school.
It wasn't until college that Cameron started to get better. Catherine, who got quite a bit of money from a questionable job, managed to get him a good therapist that was able to help his condition. He finally became more open with others, and his nightmares slowly went away. He successfully graduated with a degree in Fine Arts while his sister graduated with a career path of being a lawyer. His symptoms were, for the most part, gone.
Unfortunately, this was not meant to last. One year ago, after crashing over at a college friend's house, he had his first crippling nightmare since before college. This resulted in him nearly walking off the seventh story balcony of his friend's house, but thankfully someone had woken up just in time and grabbed him before he was able to do this. Since then, his nightmares have gotten worse, and his depression is slowly returning. Catherine scrambled to try to find a reason for the return of his symptoms and a final cure without much luck. Cameron quit his job since he realized he could not paint and deal with his problems at the same time. Since he had no job, he was forced to move in with his sister, but his problems only got worse. Desperate, and possibly running out of time before Cameron did something that got himself or someone else killed, the twins turned to the Ravenwood Asylum for answers. Cameron agreed to be sent there in a last-ditch effort to cure his problems. Catherine even dropped what she was doing previously, and has since moved to the town of Ravenwood to be closer to him.
At this point, she vows to visit him often to see how he is doing. Neither Cameron, nor Catherine, know what they have gotten themselves into.
